Hydrochemical Assessment of Groundwater around Lapite Dumpsite for Irrigation Water Quality in Ibadan, Southwestern Nigeria

چکیده
Due to the increase in population and industrialization growth, most countries world depend on groundwater meet agriculture demands for food production. The water contamination due indiscriminate solid wastes has necessitated assessment of quality its suitability agricultural usage. Twenty four ten stream samples were randomly collected from downslope upslope side dumpsite all major physio-chemical parameters. pH indicates slightly acidic alkaline nature. High concentrations nitrate, total dissolved solids electrical conductivity suggest impact waste resource. Assessment irrigation based Sodium Adsorption Ratio (SAR), Soluble Percentage (SSP), Permeability Index (PI) Magnesium content (MC) indicated that fall within permissible standard water. Thus, should be used with caution crops long time sustainability.

Water quality assessment for groundwater around a municipal waste dumpsite
The dataset for this article contains geostatistical analysis of the level to which groundwater quality around a municipal waste dumpsite located in Oke-Afa, Oshodi/Isolo area of Lagos state, southwestern has been compromised for drinking. Groundwater samples were collected from eight hand-dug wells and two borehole wells around or near the dumpsite. The pH, turbidity, salinity, conductivity, t...
متن کاملAssessment of the presence of metals and quality of water used for irrigation in Kwara State, Nigeria
In Nigeria irrigated agriculture is an important tool for economic growth, food security, and poverty reduction during dry periods of rain-fed agriculture. The concentration and composition of dissolved constituents in water determines its quality for irrigation use. Water quality studies strongly suggest that agriculture is a leading source of water quality problems, due to pesticides and othe...

متن کاملGroundwater contamination in Ibadan, South-West Nigeria
Groundwater is the main source of water for domestic use in Nigeria because it is perceived to be clean. The presence of geogenic contaminants (arsenic and fluoride), and the level of awareness of their presence in groundwater in Ibadan, Nigeria was examined in this study. A total of one hundred and twenty groundwater samples were collected from hand dug wells which tap into shallow aquifers an...
متن کاملAssessment of Heavy Metals and Microbial Load of Groundwater Samples from Ibadan Metropolis Nigeria
The present study investigates groundwater quality in terms of heavy metals level and microbial contamination as well as the impact of bleaching powder on microbial load of groundwater samples in close proximity to a surface water body inside selected areas of Ibadan Nigeria. To do so, it collects nine water samples from three boreholes and six hand-dug wells from six locations, namely Eleyele,...
